ADR: A 2025 Vision!
As I enter 2025, ADR Studio continues to build upon its foundation of "Service with expertise" meets the "Art of possible," expanding my portfolio to reflect impactful projects, community-driven research, and forward-thinking design solutions that redefine spatial justice and sustainability. My vision for 2025 is rooted in advancing the dialogue around sacred Black spaces, architectural innovation, and community enrichment across multiple scales.
Sacred Black Spaces Research
A central focus for the year ahead is the continuation and expansion of my research on Sacred Black Spaces of Joy and Emotional Freedom. This research aims to explore the spatial, cultural, and historical elements that define sacredness in community spaces, with a particular emphasis on historically Black institutions, churches, and cultural venues. Using advanced diagrammatic analysis, including tartan grids, I will analyze metrics such as enrollment, population engagement, architectural styles, and historical significance. This work will contribute valuable insights into how space influences collective identity and emotional well-being.
Howard University Studio & Masterplan Projects
As a student at Howard University, I will continue to contribute to transformative projects that shape the campus experience. This includes:
Expanding the Howard University Masterplan with a focus on historical continuity, accessibility, and community identity.
Developing architectural proposals in the Howard Architecture Studio that address both contemporary design challenges and cultural heritage.
Exploring the evolution of the Yard at Howard University, focusing on its historical role in fostering activism, community, and emotional freedom.
Community-Centered Projects
My 2025 vision prioritizes projects that serve the broader community. We will see an expansion of my portfolio with:
New community center designs emphasizing accessibility, sustainability, and cultural representation.
Black cultural venues, including open spaces for major cultural events such as Essence Fest and other spaces dedicated to cultural expression.
Collaborations with HBCUs and community organizations to develop inclusive, functional, and empowering architectural solutions.
U.S. Virgin Islands Development
My long-term commitment includes shaping a sustainable and culturally resonant project base for the U.S. Virgin Islands. This initiative will:
Explore residential and community spaces that reflect local heritage while integrating modern sustainability practices.
Develop a comprehensive planning approach that considers environmental resilience, local craftsmanship, and economic empowerment.
Technology and Industry Alignment
I am committed to staying at the forefront of industry standards by integrating advanced software tools into my workflow. This includes:
Revit for BIM modeling and construction documentation.
D5 Render & Enscape for real-time rendering and visualization.
Master Planning Platforms that support large-scale urban and community planning efforts.
Looking Ahead
In 2025, I will mark my third year as a portfolio website platform this upcoming September, continuing my mission of blending research, design excellence, and community impact. By focusing on culturally significant projects, educational collaborations, and innovative tools, we aim to inspire a new standard in architectural practice—one where space is not only functional but emotionally empowering and reflective of collective histories.
